What is Generations?

If you like ‘Wood You Furniture’, you are going to LOVE Generations Home Furnishings ! Generations is the uniting of two ‘Wood You Furniture’ franchise owners and a modern furniture store owner with the sole purpose of bringing Unfinished (& Finished) Real Wood Furniture back to the Orlando area.

You won’t find any pushy sales people in business suits here.  We are a casual crew focused on providing a laid back, pressure-free shopping experience.

Now it’s time to Meet the Team:

Tom
[Owner]
In 1982, Tom became the original manager of the Winter Park / Casselberry ‘Wood You Furniture’ store.  From there he went on to become the district manager of all the Wood You stores that covered the Southeast.  Within that same year, Tom took an opportunity to open a Wood You franchise in Gainesville, Florida.  Still going strong, Wood You Gainesville just celebrated their 36th anniversary.

 Faith
[Owner]
Recognizing an unfulfilled niche in Gainesville, Florida, Faith opened a futon and modern furniture store in 1997 at 21 years old.  She served Gainesville [& surrounding community] for 15 years with a focus on the community, the environment, and animal rescue/welfare. After 15 years, she decided to start a new chapter in her life and moved to the Orlando area to open Generations with two partners.  Faith brings her business & design skills along with her artistic flare.

Adam
[Service Tech]
Adam is a great asset to our store. He is knowledgeable, efficient, and a really hard worker. He is one of the technicians you will meet when you have furniture delivered.  You can tell he cares about the furniture he is delivering as well as the people he is delivering to.  His character and work ethic shines every day. Adam is currently in school studying nuclear medicine so we are grateful to have him for as long as we can before he finishes school and starts his new career.

 Timber
[In Training]
Timber is our current foster rabbit from Gainesville Rabbit Rescue.  He is currently ‘In Training‘ to fill the coveted position of  ‘The Boss’  since we had to say goodbye to our beloved Keeper (see below).   He is extremely sweet, friendly and eager to meet lots of new friends at work every day.
His current daily tasks include Customer Relations, Showroom Tours, Inventory Inspections, and Team Morale Leader. [But to be honest, most of his days are spent begging for lettuce, begging for head scratches, and napping next to the nearest head of Romaine.]

Rusty [retired]
Rusty also decided to open a ‘Wood You Furniture’ franchise within a year of his twin brother, Tom. He owned and operated the Wood You in Ocala, Florida from 1986-2020.  The two have always wanted the chance to work together, and this new adventure here in the Orlando area was just the opportunity they were looking for.  In 2019, he decided to retire but still comes to help us out from time to time.

So, that is your Generations Team !  Between us, we bring you over 60 years of experience and furniture & home décor knowledge. With sincere respect and appreciation for things made the ‘right way’, we are determined to offer the Central Florida community furniture that will stand the test of time…  furniture that will last GENERATIONS !

 Keeper  [Rainbow Bridge]

On December 22, 2020, our Fuzzy Matriarch and Grand Ambassador gained her angel wings. Keeper was around 12 years old and we treasured every day of the nearly nine years we got to spend with her. Keeper was a 12 year old Dutch Mix that we adopted from Gainesville Rabbit Rescue and was the official greeter at Generations. This litter-trained Lagomorph enjoyed free-roaming the store and showing off her tricks to customers. She made a lot of wonderful friends through the years here at Generations and we all miss her immensely.
