How do I care for my Real Wood Furniture Piece?
Real wood furniture is hearty and long lasting but not indestructible. Please take care of your investment by following these recommended tips for care and extended life.
- Cure Time:
Our finishes take up to 21 days after delivery date to fully cure. Prior to this date, use your furniture with extra care.
- Cleaning:
Cleaning is easy… a damp cloth is all you need. If a disinfectant needs to be used, wipe off any residue afterwards. [Avoid waxing, cleaners containing bleach, cleaners with abrasives that may scratch the finish, and cleaners containing ammonia.]
- Protection:
For everyday use, we recommend using fabric placemats, trivets with Felt pads on the bottom to protect against scratches, dings or dents.
- Be Responsible
Avoid sliding dishes across the surface unprotected. Even though you can’t see it, there are tiny burrs on the bottom of dishes and pots that can create scratches when pushed across instead of lifted and set down.
- Spills:
Your finish is resistant to most household spills. If a spill should occur, it should be wiped up immediately to avoid any potential damage.
- Extreme Temperatures:
Avoid placing extremely hot or cold objects in direct contact with a wood surface. Extreme temperature can cause discoloration to the wood finish and may cause permanent and irreparable damage.
- Environmental Damage:
Sunlight is one of nature’s elements that can cause damaging effects to your new furniture. It is preferable not to expose your furniture to direct sunlight for long periods of time. And to leave your table leaf extension in place as to ensure the uniform aging of your finish.
Follow these tips and your furniture will last…. Generations !

How do I care for the Upholstery on my Sofas?
“W”—Code W stands for ‘Water based cleaner’ and these are the easiest fabrics to clean. This is not the same as being machine washable, however. This code means that you can spot clean your fabric with a water-based shampoo or foam upholstery cleaner. You can use a brush to agitate the cleaner or even an upholstery attachment on a carpet cleaner. Be careful to avoid over-wetting the stain.
“S”—Fabrics that are Code S must be cleaned with solvents (dry clean only). You can spot treat stains with a water-free solvent or dry-cleaning product. Use solvent cleaners in a well-ventilated room and keep away from open flames. Avoid using cleaning products containing carbon tetrachloride, as it is highly toxic.
“W/S”— (Or SW) A W/S code, as you might expect, means that a combination of dry cleaning solvents and water-based cleaners may be used. These fabrics can be spot cleaned with upholstery shampoo, foam from a mild detergent, or a mild dry cleaning solvent. This is a case where the pre-test is especially important. For overall dirt, call a professional to clean these fabrics.
